At Censalud we believe in the perfect and necessary balance between body and mind. We are aware of the importance that our physical appearance has when it comes to feeling good mentally and vice versa. That is why we want to talk about the subject of breast surgery.
Many women do not feel completely comfortable with their breasts and this ends up affecting, sooner or later, their confidence in other aspects of their lives.
Some patients have a complex about having breasts that are too small, others too large, and some have breasts that are too low due to the passage of time, pregnancy or, for example, breastfeeding. Breasts undergo a transformation that not all women adjust to in the same way.
For this reason, at Censalud we work with four types of breast surgery in order to satisfy the needs of each and every one of our patients. In addition, once the decision has been made, we will accompany them throughout the process so that they always feel the support of Censalud and, in addition, we can resolve any doubts that may arise.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF BREAST SURGERY
BREAST AUGMENTATION
Also known as augmentation mammoplasty.
This is a surgical procedure which, as its name suggests, achieves breast augmentation in women who either had little development of the mammary gland at birth or who have suffered a reduction due to the passage of time, breastfeeding or pregnancy. We can also correct asymmetries and notable differences in size between the two breasts, which, although less frequent, is a source of complexes for many women.
Our main objective is to satisfy the desires of our patients, but always establishing a series of reasonable limits taking into account their physiognomy and, of course, their health. Hence the importance of the visit with the surgeon to be able to specify all the details related to the surgery such as the selection of the prosthesis that best suits your body and your needs – round and anatomical, the decision whether to place them retroglandural or retromuscular, or to determine whether the approach incision will be located in the submammary fold or in the areola.
Once the surgery is planned, it is important to perform preoperative tests and a visit with the anaesthesiologist to make the procedure as safe as possible.
We will always use general anaesthesia when performing surgery.
One of the benefits of carrying out this procedure with the Censalud team is the support patients receive. From the morning of the operation until the postoperative period, we are present, thus establishing a bond based on trust and complicity that allows our patients to experience the process with great peace of mind.
BREAST REDUCTION
For many women, the problem is not a lack of breasts, but an excess of breasts.
Either because of aesthetics and lack of harmony with the rest of the body or because of health problems caused by the weight of the breasts (back pain, etc), it is sometimes advisable to reduce the size of the breasts and thus achieve smaller breasts that are more in proportion with the rest of the body.
At Censalud we use different techniques depending on the characteristics of the patient: breast size, age, health, etc. The surgeon will decide on the most suitable technique for each specific case.
To carry out the intervention, we will remove excess fat, reduce the breast and remove excess skin and, once the nipple is in the correct location, we will reshape the breast.
As with breast augmentation, we will also use general anaesthesia to perform the procedure.
BREAST LIFT
Breast lift is also known as mastopexy.
This surgery is indicated for women whose breasts have lost skin elasticity due to pregnancy, breastfeeding or the passage of time, resulting in sagging of the breast and, on many occasions, also in volume.
For this reason, mastopexies are usually associated with an increase in volume through the inclusion of a breast implant, which not only lifts but also fills out the breast.
All mastopexies leave scars that disappear over time. In addition, the effects, although long-lasting, are not permanent. We must take into account possible future pregnancies or sudden changes in weight.
The operation is performed under general anaesthesia, after a preoperative study and consultation with the anaesthetist.
GYNECOMASTY
In last place we find gynaecomastia, that is, a treatment that allows us to eliminate the gland in men’s breasts and, if necessary, also remove the excess fat and skin to leave a smooth and firm chest.
At Censalud our priority is always the patient’s wellbeing. That is why we are present at all stages of the intervention so that they always feel accompanied and comforted.
